Kathleen Curtis was born in San Bernardino, California. She began classical ballet training at age four at Noerr Dance Academy, now know as Inland Dance Academy, with Diane Amendt and Evette DeMarco Swinson. She first appeared in Nutcracker as a soldier at age nine. She went on to perform more prominent roles including the Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow Queen, Dew Drop Fairy, Nutcracker, and Mouse King. Under the direction of Evette DeMarco Swinson, she performed principal roles in Alice in Wonderland, Pas de Quatre, Paquita, and The Sleeping Beauty. Kathleen attended summer intensive programs at the Contra Costa Ballet School and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School.
She began teaching ballet at IDA in 2000 and has choreographed in five of Inland Dance Academy’s Young Artists Showcases. Kathleen’s classes are fun and engaging. In her class, her students find she is always positive and smiling with them. She continues to perfect her craft and artistry throughout the year as well when she company class with Evette. Her students have attended summer intensives programs across the United States and Canada.
